Ath.Bilbao – Barcelona – Betting Review 06.01.2021
Athletic Bilbao faces Barcelona at the San Mames Barria in a game from La Liga. These
two teams are usually giving us some very good matches, so we expect to see another
chapter from their rivalry on Wednesday.
Let’s start with the hosts here. Athletic Bilbao are in the Top 10 right now, being 9th in the
standings with 21 points. The Basques have won 6 of their matches so far, but they also
lost 8 and that’s not something they are really proud of right now.
In their first fixture for the new year Athletic scored a difficult, but a sweet 1-0 win over
Elche at home. Two veterans created the hosts’ goal – Oscar De Marcos provided the
assist and Iker Muniain scored the winner. It was a good move from Athletic.
Barcelona are unbeaten in their last six games in La Liga. On Sunday the Catalans kept
the 5th place in La Liga when they paid a visit to newcomers Huesca. It was not an easy
game for Ronald Koeman’s team as Frenkie De Jong scored the only goal for a 1-0 win.
The Dutch midfielder executed an assist provided by the captain Lionel Messi.
We believe that Ronald Koeman made some decisions in order to keep his team as fresh
as possibly. He put Antoine Griezmann on the bench and most likely the French striker will
return in the starting eleven in Bilbao – rested and with fresh legs.
Some players remain sidelined for Barcelona. Gerard Pique, Ansu Fati and Coutinho are
not avaliable because of injuries. Sergi Roberto is still sidelined as well.
